Welcome to the SmartPark Curling League For 2011-2012
Team fees are 516.00 per 4 player team, 520.00 per 5 player team, payable in cash or by Cheque to Shaun Warkentin on the first day of curling.
Play starts promptly at 4:30 p.m. and should be completed by 6:45 p.m. Games will be a maximum of 8 ends. Tie games are recorded as such. If agreed to by both teams, AND if time allows, skips may choose to throw "skip rocks" in the event of a tie. The bell rings at 6:10 p.m. so teams should complete the end in play and play no more than one more end. An end is considered "in play" when the first rock crosses the nearest hogline.
Late penalty
We will follow the CCA rules for late penalties, with the modification that the first penalty will come at 10 minutes, with each additional penalty at 5 minutes.
(as per Canadian Curling Association):
If a team does not commence play at the designated time, unless otherwise stated by the rules governing the competition:
i) For each full five minutes that the offending team does not commence play, the non-offending team shall be granted one point and one end shall be considered to have been played; and
ii) If the non-offending team has been granted a point(s), the non-offending team shall be given the choice of last rock in the first end or color of handle. Play shall commence from the end of play that reflects the number of ends that are considered to have been played; and
iii) After 30 minutes has elapsed the non-offending team shall be declared the winner.
Teams: A team must have a minimum of 3 players, of which 2 must be regular team members.
Spares: CCA rules state that spares can play any position, however recommended protocol is that they play front end positions.
